JOLIBA - Intercultural Network in Berlin eV in Berlin

Family support (SPFH) with a focus on the African community and BIPOC.

The social organization JOLIBA eV has been offering outreach family support (SPFH) and individual case support for over 25 years, with a focus on the African community, BIPOC and Afro-German families. Our multi-professional and transcultural family helpers are trained in intersectionality, cultural and racial sensitivity and have various additional qualifications, such as mediation and couples counseling following the systemic approach. The team is made up of social educators and social workers, psychologists and career changers with relevant social pedagogical and psychological experience.

Our approach is resource- and system-oriented, holistic and appreciative.

In addition, the team has a wide range of language skills: in addition to German, English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, we also offer assistance in various African languages and Arabic.

Social counseling & support.

Our culturally sensitive approach enables us to respond to the specific needs of the families we support in a needs-based manner. Due to the different cultural experiences, communication blockages often arise that endanger the entire relationship between teachers, educators or counselors and the African family. The intercultural mediation of our family helpers can restore mutual understanding and thus the working relationship. In recent years, we have received very positive feedback from both sides on this culturally sensitive intervention.
