About the project
The "Voices of the Diaspora" project is aimed at black, African and Afrodiasporic people and offers them the opportunity to experience literature together and discover their creative voice in a protected space - free from pressure to perform and judgment.
Many people affected by (multiple) discrimination, especially young people, often do not feel safe or heard in traditional educational settings. "Voices of the Diaspora" aims to create exactly this space: a space in which people can try things out without worrying about triggers or exclusion. The focus here is not on guidelines or rules, but on the joy of writing and reading - without any pressure.
what is happening in the project?
A special focus is on language-pedagogical empowerment. Participants can make suggestions for reading material or writing ideas and thus actively help shape the workshop. We regularly invite authors to readings and workshops to provide additional inspiration.
The project culminates in a final event where participants can share their texts with an audience. Together with the author and spoken word poet Ana Lucao and the association Joliba eV, we want to create a platform where the voices of the diaspora can be heard.
With this project, we are taking a stand against the disappearance of creative writing cultures and creating a place that focuses on real human experiences and stories – away from artificial intelligence.
